Kumete Sports

This story was told by a lady from my church Elizabeth Tatuava. It is a summary of the great sports contest that was held in the past. It teaches us to be supportive to one another.

In the past, there was a great sports activity held every year on the Queen’s birthday. Each village would gather together in Muri to start their big event.

People of any age could participate. There would be races of different kinds: horse race, donut race, sack race, traditional races and many more! The people would cheer only for their villages during these events, and they would be supportive in every way.

They would share their food with their families, while watching these magnificent events. At the end of the day everyone would be exhausted but happy, and they would acknowledge each other for their great effort, before they returned to their homes.
